I have been planning a trip to Iceland for over a decade now, it's actually going to happen! I have written it down as a goal for 2017 and there is no stopping. I was inspired years a go by one of my favorite instrumental bands "Sigur Ros" after viewing their documentary I felt a sense of connection. I felt a connection to nature and a longing for simplicity. I love how much of the Icelandic life is influenced by nature. From the language to music, food, culture, and even down to the basics of bathing. I appreciate this so much from people.
I hope you take sometime to view this video, and really see what I mean. I am planning on making the trip either in April or May, I typically like to go to destinations in off season--it makes it much more accommodating and price friendly! I have several people interested in wanting to come, but I thought I would open it up to others. I know there are plenty of friends out there who have a similar desire. Not seeking anything fancy, I like to typically immerse myself into a culture with little expectation of what is supposed to happen. I am not an agenda type of person, and often when I am put under pressure to do things by the hour or clock, I lose interest. I am hoping to find some people who are ready to explore and take in the experience for what it is. This may mean hostels, feeling uncomfortable with strangers who will turn into life long friends, and potential nights that turn into days because you love life too much to fall asleep. This may mean you may buy food from the local market and not dine in the touristy restaurants, this means you may learn a sentence or two of the mother tongue, this means that you may not get a picture with that statue that you were hoping for, this means you live life to the fullest in your own way. If you're up for the adventure I ask you to send me an e-mail to [email protected], please let me know more about you and where you have traveled! We can take it from there.
